I am an acoustics professor from Germany. I was amazed by the decibel of emergency vehicles. What NH has is ILLEGAL in our country because it is PROVEN to damage eardrums. Why doesn't Mayor Harp do something about this? As a professor of seventeen years, I will state a fact: the sirens are literally deafening.

Welcome to New Haven where the Mayor who cares more about her political agenda than she does our Town and any quality of Life issues.
Also, they are this loud because most drivers don't yield to emergency vehicles or can't hear them due due loud boom boxes and driving with headphones on (illegal also)

I am a visiting scholar and a combat veteran who served in the Gulf. New Haven sirens are louder than anywhere I've been globally. Isn't a violation of OSHA a crime? AMR is a monopoly and they are turning downtown into there base of operations. Who will do anything?? And when?

Sirens need to be heard by drivers with their windows closed.
