Sidewalk lift repair completed. Issue closed. Thanks for reporting.

No. I'm sorry, this is not closed. Over a year ago, I was told that the sidewalk was scheduled to be ground and instead you will see in then picture below that this was instead patched with blacktop! I'm sorry, this is a very poor repair and I want to know the rationale for the poor decision and workmanship. I am not a slumlord, and will not tolerate this trashy work. Please advise.

I must comment again to what a poor job was done by the Department of Public on this repair. After waiting a year plus for the "sidewalk grinding" that was promised by the department, I came home from work one day to find this asphalt patch job. It has been almost 5 months since it was completed and I regularly see pieces of the asphalt crumbling. I am not a slum lord, and will not tolerate this workmanship from our public works department. I will keep this issue open until it is addressed, and if it is not addressed, I will move it from this forum to a more formal channel of appeal.

It took me ages to get this addressed. After being told that it would be ground down to level, 8 months later a blacktop "ramp" was built to accomodate the rise. Ridiculous. It is 6 months later and the blacktop is crumbling. I am not an absentee New Haven landlord and I will keep this posted until the city addresses this issue with at least a minimal level of care and craftmanship.

Families with baby strollers must stop and lift their strollers over this "repaired" sidewalk lift. Strange standards for a livable city, but hey, I'm coming to understand New Haven's standards. My thirty-something friends, however, are moving to Madison and Branford to get away from these "standards", and there is little I can say to stop them. Way to go New Haven civic leadership. #luredtosleep

Guess what? The blacktop "repair" crumbled during the winter. I wish we would have known winter was coming cause then we would have been able to plan a better repair than blacktop on a cement sidewalk.

Goodbye, New Haven. We are looking for a livable city, not one that simply averts major crimes.
