You need to see the tree that the landscaper dropped into the park near the old homeless camp. There is no way that his dump is legal and on top of that he must either have a HUGE business or he lets other people dump there. Its almost a full acre of fill averaging 6' tall.

I wonder if this issue will get acknowledged by anyone, maybe some pictures are in order.

Here it is five months after you reported this issue and it still exist. Like you, I hope my efforts of recently reporting this issue isn't ignored. It leaves you wondering if using this site really works.

I just saw this tree a few days ago on a walk through there. The tree did not bother me but the dump did. That dump needs to be fenced off or cleaned up, its ugly and cant be safe.

This jerk cut down a tree on city property? That's not his right. He needs to be fined, at the very least.

nothing has been done still, lawn waste is overflowing into the park and the fire hazard continues to grow without any city officials acknowledging the situation.

So by the city closing this issue one has to think that anyone with property in a residential neighborhood next to a park can open up their own private landfill??? Has any city official even looked into this?

I am so glad neighbors posted this. I believe I did, too, maybe 4 yrs ago when I, too, discovered this travesty. I will try to dig up my photos and post them. I could not believe the landscape waste dumped here, totally encroaching on and running the Summit entrance to the park. Plus, there was also so much other large garbage dumped here, from axles to steering columns to sofas to tires to mattresses. On top of it, there was a lot of plywood inside the park proper, used as ramps by ATv's and as shields for paintballers. The last alderman and us neighbors staged a major cleanup for all that dumped stuff, but we couldn't touch the gas clippings, bec they were on this landscapers property, mostly. Seems illegal to maintain a private dump within city limits, doesn't it? This kind of thing should be more out in the country. I am all for composting, but this is on a massive, stinky scale, and it must harbor all kinds of vermin.
I'm really thrilled with the new org at a nearby park, Friends of Fairmont Park, and wish that someones with the time and wherewithal could help out Quarry Park, too. This spot is potentially a best-kept secret, an oasis we need to protect.

certainly the city, whom we pay to oversee issues like this, could see the light and look into this. who knows, maybe the Heights is just another corner of the city to sweep the dust into...

the big question is what verified official thought that was a non-issue- phone calls should be made to the mayor's office to get this issue addressed.
