This playground is a nice resource for neighborhood kids, but who wants their kids playing around garbage? Not to mention that overflowing bins don't exactly encourage people to dispose of their garbage properly. Please, have Public Works collect the garbage here (now and on a regular basis), and then cut down the overgrown weeds. (Tip from an ex-landscaper: collect the trash FIRST! Mowing or weed-whacking over garbage does not create mulch -- it's just garbage spread around in smaller chunks!).

The Strong School playground was so dangerous, and disgusting, about 2 months ago, my husband and I did our own cleanup so that our 2 year old, and other neighbors and friends, could feasibly use it. Unfortunately, it has rapidly returned to the state it was in, and worse. In addition to being eager to use the playground, it is an eyesore when you turn onto my street (Perkins Street). Please help! We have a great group of neighborhood folks who are making huge efforts to build up a nice community to live in and we are desperate for city support.

Please clean up this playground for our children! Thanks.

I live next door and had 40+ people to my house recently to celebrate the birth of my son. The group was mainly from out of town. After alerting the city and waiting for a week I mowed the school property curb strip. I frankly was embarrassed for my city. Other neighbors have cleaned and even repaired the fence and equipment in the park. I am glad I have the money to plant shrubbery so my family does not have to see the garbage filled playground but I'm sadden to see the children from famlies with few recreational options playing in the midst of such fllth. The only thing that would make it worst would be for a landscaper to turn hundreds of pieces of debris into thousands by mowing the grass without picking up the garbage. Where is the city when residents are stepping up to take responsibility? Is it to much to ask that a garbage can be emptied?

Please collect the overflowing garbage at the Strong School (and more frequently in the future). And please provide basic and ongoing landscaping maintenance. (In that order.)

The building dominates that corner of Grand Ave., and the way it looks presents an immediate, powerful message about our neighborhood. I have seen drug deals happen in broad daylight right next to the school; a black sedan pulls up and eventually is met by someone on foot. We've all seen it. Letting the School appear abandoned gives the impression that no one cares, no one is paying attention, and anything goes.
