I did hear the someone was hit, but otherwise could find no mention. With the sign, though, many, though not all drivers, do stop when I start to cross. Without the sign, very few stop. In Massachusetts, the police will give drivers a ticket if someone even has their foot in the crosswalk and the driver doesn't stop. The police do not seem to care about this in Connecticut.

The sign is still not replaced and needs to be. This cross walk still needs a full stop sign as drivers ignore the in-road pedestrian cross walk sign - which is only there from May - November. Our Block Watch Association has been advocating for traffic calming measures for 2 years. Despite the speed tracking signage added on Chapel Street East-Bound, and the pedestrian in-road signage, drivers rarely stop for pedestrians. We should not have to wait for a serious accident to have better signage there.

Asked the construction people to put back the sign and they did. But then, later, my foot was in the crosswalk and 2 just sped by.

As the sign was returned to its proper location we are closing this issue. Thank you.
