This morning, three cars went through the red light leaving 4 seconds on the pedestrian signal to cross at this intersection. I chose to wait for the next cycle rather than try to sprint across Whalley with my dog in tow.

I have posted my concern about the timing on the crossing light in the past, including one time when I was very nearly hit by a car racing up the hill just as the light turned green but I wasn’t trough crossing. PLEASE add a little more time to this crossing signal.

Signal crew responded and verified proper intersection operation IAW traffic plan.

The rejected content I attempted to post included links to articles about pedestrian injuries and fatalities caused by careless automobile operators in the city of New Haven and were and are relevant to the city's lackluster response to a very real and ongoing issue.

It is depressing to read that a speeding driver who hits and kills someone standing on the sidewalk faces no consequences. I believe it, however, because I was hit by a speeding car eight years ago and am living with the legacy of the spine, head, and multiple nerve injuries. There was a camera, but the police said it had not been working that night. The police, who were right there, told me what happened but refused to put it in the report and instead gave the case to a policeman who had not been there to write up as "cause unknown." Everything about the ordeal was a nightmare. There is no doubt that the deck is stacked in favor of the criminal drivers and never the pedestrian victims.
