Have asked the Health Department to help enforce the codes. Lots of people use that dumpster illegally, not to mention some nearby businesses. The owner has quite literally spent thousands of dollars emptying the dumpster. The owner of the property is the victim in this case. She has always been compliant when the City has asked her to empty the dumpster. But, it is filled again overnight. The Health Department and LCI are working with the owner to come up with a permanent solution. Will keep you posted.

Visited location at 11:30 a.m. today, 1/10/2018. Dumpster was emptied.

The owner can use a combination lock, giving only the combination to whomever has the right to use this dumpster. This would cost less than $50.00. This street is a gateway to New Haven by State Street Station users. There is NO excuse for the conditions I have seen at this dumpster repeatedly.

Cordalie, thank you for your suggestion. I will speak with the owner regarding your idea. Right now, we're looking at installing cameras. When this dumpster was locked in the past, people just piled the trash on the top of the dumpster or around it. Nevertheless, you're right, this street is one of New Haven's gateway streets and this issue must be resolved soon.
