Thank you Mr.Smuts for your concern regarding the property at 47-49 Salem Street, New Haven, CT 06519. May I ask what department you are afflicated with to share with other homeowners?

I am the City's Chief Administrative Officer. I oversee eight departments, including the Police Department.

From your description, this might be a difficult problem to address with the vehicle parking there at night, sporadically, and needing to link leakage to it, but we'll at least get the issue to the right people to see if they can address it.

Mr. @#$%, I have witnesses the vehicle in question regarding the transmission fluid leakage. He discards the empty plastic containers along side the street and onto the sidewalk; we and other residents have picked-up the empty containers also, others have seen the person when he has to replace his fluid in the van. Another owner has brought to my attention the back yard at 47-49 Salem Street, New Haven, CT 06519 : full of trash and mattress piled about six to eight feet high; she stated the trash has been in the back yard since this summer! I will submit her name and phone number to L.C.I. Neighborhood Specialist Chris Soto at the next meeting at the Hill-South Police Sub Station 12/19/2012. The other owner stated she will call L.C.I. Neighborhood Specialists, Chris Soto because this problems and the stones placed in front of the house at 47-49 Salem Street, New Haven, CT are also illegal.

Update: January 13, 2013, today there are two cars parked on the property at 47-49 Salem Street; Nothing has been done to date!

The situation is still the same, only a different day! The cars still park where they aren't supposed to park the sited property of 47-49 Salem Street, New Haven,CT 06519 every evening and leave around 6:45 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. In the morning. During the storm a new vehicle is parked on the property, a black Jeep; backed-in facing the street.

According to the current city appraisal database the owner [since 7/20/2011] is Marshall A. Asmar [age 42].

I wouldn't pursue this further until the snow mess is cleaned up and life is back to normal, since this complaint will be the lowest priority.
But when things DO get back to normal, contact LCI directly. Every day.

I agree with Schaefer. People always ask me if they should contact the city about minor changes to their house, and I have to tell them I only see the people who try to do the right thing get into trouble. People who just flagrantly violate the rules seem to get away with it.

Thank you for the information regarding 47-49 Salem Street, New Haven, CT 06519. I've talked to Chris Soto at the NHVN Hill-South Police Sub station since December 2012 and was at the office last summer to report the problem. Mr. @#$% who is affiliated with LCI and the NHVN Police is monitoring the problem. As for Marshall Asmir; the owner of the property, he is well known to LCI and the Neighborhood Association. Thank you once again for the support and comments for we are homeowners that care what happens to our neighborhood.

UPDATE: March 2013. Thank you for taking the photo shot of the property at 47-49 Salem Street, New Haven, CT 06519. Will wait for awhile as I have been asked to do; this update is regarding the same parking situation at the above address. Other people have started to park in these spaces who don't even live on the street! Our street is Residential Parking Zone14; so the same people who signed the petition refuse to get the yearly parking stickers that is required by law!

Update on 47-49 Salem Street, New Haven CT:
Last week the third week in April the occupients of 49 Salem Street was working on a gray Jeep Ford (hood-up). This is not the first time for this to happen as they have been doing it since they occupied the premises. I reported it at the time many years ago of the incident to no avail so this goes on into the summer as they bring their friends cars to be fixed also.

Today- On the weekend of April 26th at 8:44 a.m. a gray car license plate 60052v was on the land in front at of 47 Salem Street; and a white Dodge, two-door back-out licence 5202 CA was parked on the property.

Thanks for reporting this again. However, I find it unfair for you to take the tone as though this has never been addressed. We have REPEATEDLY ticketed these folks for this, we have stickered the vehicles, we were even successful in getting the owner to re-mediate some of the oil spillage in the front yard. It seems as though your neighbors have a complete disregard for the law, despite the multiple enforcement avenues taken.

But again thanks for the update, I will be out there later today to look at this.

Cars have been parking back on the property during the weekend, the residence are doing this more often as the weather has changed. Is it possible to remove the large stones placed on the lawn in front of the house? The children have started throwing the stones all over the place!

The maintenance men are parking on the exposed gravel area; also, people are constantly parking on the side walk and on the left-hand side of the street. This street is a one-way street with a lot of children. Is there any way you could have the parking lot gravel changed? The children are throwing the large gravel stones at cars.
