Illegal dumping Archived306 W Marshall St Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson Ward
I can't determine if the tenants left this mess in the alley, or if this was the work of the guy in a late model silver Dodge/Plymouth minivan with a stack of pallets on his roof.
I saw the minivan drive up, and heard a lot of noise. Then I noticed this mess in the alley later in the afternoon. I had not noticed the state of the trash in the morning, and couldn't see what the guy in the mini van was doing while he was there.

Other Archived508 Brook Rd Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson WardStreet Cleaning/Leaf Pickup - I late November, the north side (bottom) of the same block had a street cleaner come through. The south side (top) has yet to see a street cleaner. The last time the street cleaner was run, it stopped for the day at the end of the 200 block. The 300 block, and blocks west are long overdue for a cleaning. There are over an inch of leaves piled up in the gutters, causing flooding and unsanitary conditions. This is basic maintenance that we receive all year round, but is neglected every year when it's needed most. We need a street cleaner ASAP. If you won't provide this basic service, stop ticketing for the hours each week that you set aside to do this. I want a call from the city about this ASAP.

Other Archived508 Brook Rd Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson WardIt's been about two months since our block has seen a street cleaner. They did a great job up to the end of the 200 block of west Clay in November, then finished up for the day, and haven't been back since. This happens every year. We the community have to dig out the backed up storm drain just to get in and out of our cars on a rainy day. Our homes are filthy as well. If the city isn't going to provide this basic services it does the rest of the year, then they should stop ticketing. We need this rectified ASAP. Don't close this ticket out until it's done.

Street Cleaning Archived303 W. Clay St. Richmond, Virginia - Jackson Ward
The street cleaners haven't been on the south side of the block in well over a month. Every year, the north side get's a pre-winter clean up, and the south side get's it up to the end of the 200 block, then it's lunch time, and they don't come back for months. There are piles of wet leaves in the gutters creating huge puddles that make parking very difficult. It's also clogging the storm drain. To add insult to injury, the parking crews are ticketing, but the neighborhood is not seeing any service. It causes a lot of extra work for homeowners, as it makes everything dirty inside and outside of our homes.
This happens EVERY YEAR! Why is it so hard to provide this service in a timely manner?

Other Archived305 W Clay St Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson WardLeaf Collection - According to the city's website, we're scheduled for collection today, tomorrow, and the next day. There are no signs posted yet, and the city is required to provide 48 hours notice for parking restrictions. Has this been rescheduled? We haven't seen street cleaner in over a month. W. Clay to the end of the 200 block has had leaf collection. This happens every year. They stop at the 200 block, and never come back. The leaves are blocking the storm drain.

Trash/Bulk Pick-ups Archived410 N Madison St Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson WardBuilding materials have now been added because this has been sitting here for two months. When I initially reported this to the city, they told me that it didn't have to be by the property line. Apparently, that's not the case. My next case (2451930) appears to have been closed out. Please pick this up.

Other Archived200-298 W Clay St Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson WardThis dangerous intersection needs a traffic study ASAP. At the very least, the city needs to re-paint the crosswalks. That were paved over last spring. The building to the right in the photo is a daycare center. That alone means that 30 kids are crossing here 4 times a day. This doesn't include the pedestrian and bike traffic generated by residents. A few shoddy stop signs at this intersection are not enough.
-
Other Archived300 W Clay St Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson WardComplete Lack of Pedestrian Safety Infrastructure - The intersection of Clay, Brook, and Madison has long needed traffic calming measures. However, when Brook was re-paved twice last spring, the existing crosswalks were covered. Nearly 6 months later, there has been no work to restore the minimal safety infrastructure that did exist here. This intersection is a nightmare waiting to happen, as it is adjacent to a well-attended neighborhood park and a daycare center. The fact that Clay is one-way, and that it's a 4 way stop with major blind spots mean that it should have more, not fewer pieces of safe infrastructure. If the city blew it's paint budget on the race, the neighbors will take matters into their own hands.
-
Other Archived200-298 West Clay Street Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson WardA moving van is parked in front of the only stop sign at this intersection, making it impossible for approaching cars to see. I don't blame the van, but the lack of infrastructure. I don't believe they are illegally parked, however, there are no crosswalks or stop lines painted on this intersection, just one small sign. Today, as a few dozen toddlers crossed the street, several trucks blew through the stop. Is the city waiting for a tragedy to take action? The safety of this intersection needs to be addressed immediately. In addition to the issues reported here, I know that a number of people have written to Councilman Samuels. It's long overdue.

Other Archived301 West Clay Street Richmond, VA 23220, USA - Jackson WardPower line has been down in the street for over 24 hours. The street is blocked off as a result of this. Is this the City's responsibility or Dominions? I would imagine that an issue that shuts down a significant thoroughfare, within yards of the entrance of a daycare center would be expedited.
