Description
On rte 80 in front of walmart the right lane heading toward quinnipiac ENDS after the turn to walmart but people always drive up the side in the white line to take a right by shell station. You are supposed to stay in other lane and get over to turn right when it opens to a lane again, the police should post an officer there at 5 pm every night and they would make a haul in tickets, every single car would get pulled over. The people following the correct signs cant get over without getting hit!

There is no reason I can see why the lines are drawn in that location to force all cars to merge Ieft into traffic and then almost immediately separate again into two lanes if you wish to turn right'
Safest solution to the supposed problem is to let right turn-traffic remain in the right lane by eliminating the unneeded merge,
I always go straight at that intersection but have long noticed the apparent stupidity of the design, and would probably join those complained about if I were a right-turner,

Yes, and left turns out of McDonald's as mentioned above plus the gas station adjacent should be prohibited as real hazards
Just route those cars via the traffic light-controlled nearby exit

Its a mess. I dont know if anyone noticed but a couple years back when rt80 was paved the guy who did the lines painted it so it was a right turn lane from Walmart up to Quinnipiac which made sense. It turns out the inspector made him change it back to the way it is now because the road is not quite wide enough to legally do that.
I'm one of the guys turning right on Q ave and I think the real problem is the sneaky jerks who use the right turn lane to get ahead of everyone and then cut back into rt80 in front of the shell station. A traffic cop could bust so many people doing that, not to mention the people who block the intersection when the light turns red making it worse for everyone. Its a mess either way.
And yeah, I've seen people risk their lives and their families lives making left turns out of McDs, all for a cheeseburger....
