This vehicle was not illegally parked. This parking enforcement officer was on duty last night, enforcing parking regulations.

When any vehicle shall be parked in any parking meter space adjacent to which a parking meter is located, the operator of such vehicle shall park it within the lines or marks established, excepting such vehicles whose length, width or load overlap the said lines or marks, and upon entering said parking meter space, immediately deposit or cause to be deposited in said parking meter such proper coin of the United States as is required by the Traffic Authority or Parking Authority for such parking meter and as is designated by proper direction on the meter, and when required by directions on the meter, the operator of said vehicle after the deposit of the proper coin shall also completely turn or cause to be turned the crank handle on said parking meter for the purpose of starting the time mechanism, and failure to deposit such proper coin and to turn the crank handle when so required shall constitute a violation of this article.

It seems to be a voliation

Parking enforcement officers who are on duty, driving dept. vehicles for the purpose of enforcement are not in violation.

Are you saying these vehicles are exempt from parking rules? That certainly seems to the the attitude of city employees, but I don't think that's the way the law is written.

Victor Bolden cannot interpret the law correctly and reads the parts that he wants- there are supposed to be marker plates on the front of all police cars, but he refuses to acknowledge that. Other towns and State Police comply, but not New Haven- PD said it was too laborious- then Bolden tried to quote a PART of the Statute that says PD is exempt from traffic regs- the rest of it says WHILE IN THE COMMISSION OF ENFORCING THOSE STATUTES. I should just grieve him,AND LET HIM ANSWER TO THE STATE

This is ludicrous. You are suggesting that the city basically takes money collected from meters, gives this money to the personnel responsible for enforcing meter violations, only to return said money for the same department to then collect to again distribute to its staff. You do realize no revenue is being generated here, right? What would the purpose of this pointless exercise be, exactly?

Seems odd. Malloy got a parking ticket back in 2011.

“Our parking enforcement officers strive to treat everybody equally. You’re parked and your meter is expired or you’re parked illegally, you’ll get a ticket regardless if you’re [an] elected official or not,” he told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
