I will be meeting with Caltrans reps for the area to discuss this issue in mid-December.

The meeting with Caltran is set for Tuesday, January 6 at 3:30 pm. We will be doing a walk around to see what can be done to clean up the area and fix access points to the Caltran property fonting HWY 101.

Caltrans plans on replacing the fence sometime over the next three years. These things move slowly. But it will be done.

Caltrans is working on this area as of June 2009. Cleared ivy from fence and sidewalk. Has plans to trim trees. Eventually will replace the fence.

Progress is slow. Caltrans cleaned the area out but still needs to replace the fence and trim the trees.

I have a meeting with Caltrans about this issue on Friday, Feb 19.

The meeting with CalTrans was productive. They agreed to create a community garden area at 25th and Kansas that will require new fencing and the area being prepared for gardening. Eventually, the rest of the fencing will be replaced. Not sure when, though.

Progress is slow but there is progress! Received the Caltrans permit for Adopt-a-Highway for the Kansas & 25th street area. Fence line there has been replaced and more work will happen soon.

The fence line has not been entirely replaced but the Community Garden is good shape and has improved part of the area! I'll keep this issue open until all the fence-line is replaced. Ray

Caltrans has replaced the fence line from 25th and Kansas north to 22nd and Kansas. It is an improvement but not entirely what was needed. Much better fencing was needed along with improved fence doors. They simply kept the old ones in place, which were ineffective in keeping out trespassers. There's not much more to be done unless the entire area is properly renovated and landscaped.
