As of the end of September, 2011, this issue still has not been fixed. Crosswalks in all other directions activate automatically, but the east/west signal on the south side of the intersection (directing bicycle and pedestrian traffic on the PATH) does not activate unless the button has been pushed. If bicycle or pedestrian traffic arrives after the east/west auto light has turned green, they must either proceed against the 'don't walk' signal, or wait an entire light cycle before receiving a walk signal. This is a heavily used commuter route and remains very dangerous and inconvenient.

This issue still has not been addressed after 11 months.
