Do the trash/recycle collectors REALLY need to come at 5:30 in the morning? For a year now I have been ripped from my sleep by the obnoxiously loud trucks and the shouts of the workers. I can't stand it anymore.

Public works, what say you to this i the ordinance:
"In all other areas of the city no commercial waste collector shall engage in the business operations licensed by this article except between the hours of 6:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. (Ord. No. 1557, 4-16-07)

What I have found is that the best course of action is to document the problem with video (if possible) and post it here on SeeClickFix. What I have done in the past on Whitney Avenue is with a video from a constituent, I can call John's and tell them they are breaking the commercial hauling code of ordinance.
I am not sure if it's DPW or NHPD that would enforce this ordinance. I will find out.

Some good and bad news from this morning's tour of the neighborhood. The recycling trucks are smaller (~25') and able to make the left turn. Garbage trucks are much larger (~45') and don't have the turning radius to turn left on Pearl. That's the bad news.
One possible solution would be to measure the street and possibly move all parking to the left side of Pleasant with angled parking (in order to have potentially no loss of parking). This could be completed through a Complete Streets project request form.
I'll give you a call today to discuss Lisa -
If anyone would like to help put in a form, give me a call (203-309-2737) or email (doug@dougward7.com)
