These swings should be an embarrassment to the city. Even as grounds crews week-whack around every guard rail and fence, they neglect so much else. Thousands were spent on lighting another ball field, and recently on bringing in yet more red clay, as they carelessly piled up the old red clay against the wetland bordering Old Field Creek. They don't have money to put in a playground for kids in this area, but they have the money to leave the ballfield lights on for hours at a time when there's no ball being played. It's shameful, how the City of West Haven squanders what little money it has.

When my kids were little Morse Park was nice. Had not only the swings, basketball and baseball fields, it also had a climber, slide and animals on springs if I remember correctly. That was back in the 80's lol. Now I'm saddened every time I bring my grandkids. Can not use the park at Savin Rock School til after 3:15pm when school lets out (they will ask you to leave) plus no toddler swings and the swings that are there are too high up for little kids. 6 year olds have to jump to get on the swing :-(

I totally agree I pay over $6000 a year in taxes and can't take my grandaughter to this park. people listen up vote out the incumbents we need change.

Went to the play area at Savin Rock School and was asked not to come there during school hours as the little kids in the classrooms get distracted easily. Oops, Sorry kids.

Please fix Morse Park swings. And put a couple of the swings low to the ground for the preschool kids.

I agree, I take my granddaughter there all the time. As a resident of WH please repair use my high tax payment I just dropped off at town hall.

Many hundreds, perhaps thousands, of $$ are being wasted running the lights around ball fields 2 and 4 on nights when there's no one playing there, presumably because it's just easier to put them on an automatic timer, whether the lights are needed or not. There is a total of 40 lights illuminating these ball fields to daylight conditions, for no good reason. no wonder the city has no money to do even the most basic of repairs, or install swings in a part of the city where they would be very much appreciate. The West Shore area gets everything; this part of town looks like it was abandoned, and in many ways, it has been. Shame on West Haven.

Does anyone have some rope and a piece of 2x6 with a hole drilled near the edges to tie the rope to? Or maybe swings left over from a old swing set attached to ropes?

Contrast what Morse Park looks like, including these decrepit swings, with the swing sets in Painter Park and on the west (best) shore, and a pattern emerges of the city administration's -- and Public Works' in particular -- contempt and disregard for the east side of town. Add to that the way that Little League fails to assume any responsibility with the care of the park: they want it to use, but they can't seem to find the wherewithall to lock the gates, pick up the trash, and demand that the city provide recycling containers; instead, they're teaching their youth that it's okay to put recyclables in the trash (they make up 90% of what's being thrown out there), when in fact it's against state law. Shame on Little League, Shame on Public Works, and Shame on the current administration.

calling won't do any good. The Public Works Dept is completely dysfunctional. Notice all the band-aid window-dressing work being done, all to make it look like this current disaster-of-an-administration is actually in control and doing something. They weed-whack around every post and chain link fence in Morse Park, but ignore the adjacent overgrown sidewalks, and when they do finally cut the overgrowth, the leave the debris behind. What's not being addressed is the rot underneath. The hexagonal building behind the skate park just got painted, and the beach groomer has made random and purposeless* passes over a beach here and there (*not exactly purposeless, since he's also driven up and onto the dunes, even as the city supposedly has a "dune restoration program" underway). The current District 2 councilor is worthless, doing nothing to advocate on behalf of this, our District's only park. The gates have remained open 24/7, even though more locks were purchased this past spring, and the result being that vandals drive through tearing up the driveway, necessitating further repairs. So if you want to see change, VOTE ROSSI AND TEAM, ROW B.
