At the intersection of New Bern Rd and N King Charles Rd there are stoplights and a bus stop, but no way to safely access that stop, not to mention cross New Bern safely as there are no cross walks marked on the pavement nor are there crosswalk signals in place.
People cross this intersection all day long at their own risk. There are no sidewalks on New Bern so there is no safe way to get to the nearest crosswalk. My kids are old enough to go by themselves to patronize the shopping center across New Bern from Longview Gardens but no safe way to get there.

I've opened this same issue in the past, as have others, only to be brushed aside because of a technicality or "sending this to some committee" or whatever. But I will vote for it every time. This intersection is highly trafficked and dangerous (there has been at least one fatal accident in the past 2 years) without proper signage and crossing.

This was supposed to be part of the New Bern Corridor project, and that bond passed years ago. When will the work begin? This same issue carries all the way to Wake Med. There is a pedestrian crosswalk at one Wake Med entrance, but none New Bern and Sunnybrook, and NO sidewalks for most of that area. There isn't even a crosswalk painted in the street at New Bern/Sunnybrook.

Clearly the city has too much on its plate to deal with this. Too bad it's not in midtown or five points. Then it would be dealt with in short order.
