In 2008 City Council approved the discontinuation of the City dandelion control program. This means that the City of Grande Prairie does not spray herbicides to control dandelions in neighbourhood parks, public utility lots or boulevards. Dandelion control is still performed on irrigated turf areas such as intensively used sports fields and Jubilee Park. Public opinion surveys continue to support Council’s decision to not use pesticides solely for improved aesthetics rather than to protect the health of the grass. Well I guess I'll half to do my own spraying .. This city always talks about beautifying its neighbourhoods .. Well guess what u drop the ball on this one .. But right up there with plow ing snow onto lawns this winter .. And leaving snow berms in middle of streets for months .. I do appreciate the effort .. It's a large task when that much comes in. A short period .. But as for dandelions ya don't control it .. It will continue to get worse .. And worse .. But I guess I'll remember this when u wanna raise taxes for a new pool or school .. Neither I use .. I just take pride in my yard and property .. So I will do my own dandelion control.. Thanks for letting me know where u stand on the weed problem.. I at least know if I have weeds in my yard .. I don't half to worry about the city leaving a warning on my door to remove them from my property .. Cause what's good for the goose is good for the tax paying public .. Thanks
