Another option to mitigate future ponding of water is to install weeping tile against the west boundary of the playground and allow the water to drain into the grassed area. Fresh sand (or preferably pea gravel) could then be placed over the playground.

The water table is high from the recent rain and snow melting, all areas of the City are experiencing extra moisture. More sand may be added this summer after the park has been rototilled.
