This is a simple fix. A couple of months back, the New Haven Department of Public Works (or its contractors) came out to fix my sidewalk. It looks great! In order to make sure that people didn't trip over the uneven sidewalk while it was being repaired, they put up yellow barricades (kind of like a police barricades). It's bright yellow and says NHDPW on it.

The problem is that the yellow barricade is still in front of my house. No one has come to pick it up. It's been over 2 months! I hope that someone can swing by soon to grab it.

About 2 months, the big storm that took down my oak tree also completely destroyed uprooted my sidewalk. I thought a previous report on See Click Fix would have brought that to the attention of Public Works but I have since found out that they have no record of needing to send someone out to inspect and schedule the sidewalk replacement.

I hope the attached picture saves everyone a lot of time. It is completely destroyed and a danger to my family and local pedestrians.

The storm took out my massive oak tree and destroyed the sidewalk. I'm pretty sure Public Works is aware of it but thought I'd document this here to make sure it's on the record and in hopes that it is addressed quickly. Not a safe situation for me or my neighbors!!

Image attached. Damage extends to the other side of the tree with major cracks and raised sidewalk.

  • Parks Request Archivado
52 Colony Road New Haven, Connecticut - Beaver Hills

Over a month ago, I submitted an adopt a tree request to the Parks Department. I have called multiple times, left countless messages, and have spoken with a number of people who said they would pass along my info to someone who could answer my questions. None of that has happened. Since my calls aren't getting me anywhere, I'm trying see click fix.

I'd like to have the tree in front of my house trimmed by a private company. I'm having a dead tree in my yard removed and it makes sense to have them also trim the tree in front of my house in the same visit. I haven't been able to proceed because no one from the tree department has gotten back to me.

Let's see if this post gets any traction.

Fire hydrant on colony and Moreland in beaver hills is leaking slowly but steadily from various points. I've never seen it like that.

I want to apply for the trim-a-tree program but I have had no luck getting anyone on the phone that can help me. The application on the Dept of Parks website doesn't explain where or to whom the application should be submitted. Can someone please get in touch with me? Or let me know how to get in touch?
  • Goffe St New Haven, Connecticut - Dixwell
The Goffe St corridor to and from downtown is a giant obstacle course for cyclists. There is always glass in either directions making my commute a hazard. I've lost a couple of tubes and tires already. Worse, shattered glass in the road heightens the chance of an accident with a car. If New Haven is serious about promoting cycling (see yesterday's grand prix) then road maintenance for cyclists should be a priority...and it's not exactly complicated! Sweep!
