Crazy potholes over here and the roads are still narrowed by unmelted piles of snow on the curb, making it difficult to avoid oncoming traffic and potholes at the same time, Please Cold Patch!

This little guy wondered into my yard at about 1:30 pm today. He has 2 collars and a bandana, but no tags. I have closed the gate so he can't run out into the street and I've left a bowl of water for him. Is he yours? Do you know who he belongs to? Let me know, please. Thanks!

The title says it all - someone left a tire on our curb-strip. If this is your tire, please remove it. Alternatively, if anyone needs a spare, this one is yours for the taking, although I have no idea what condition it is in.

I will take it to the dump if its not gone by Saturday, but I find it incredibly disrespectful that someone would do this. This is above and beyond the litter that usually accumulates in the street. Why should your bulk trash become my/ our problem? Residents of West River are working hard to improve the quality of our neighborhood, and I find this behavior extremely frustrating and disappointing.

There is a gigantic pile of trash in the alley between the building at 55 Derby and the parking lot of the church next door. The pile must be 8 or 10 ft wide by 3-4 ft tall. I hope that it will be taken to the curb with the blue trash bins and cleared away by morning by sanitation workers. If not, this could be a health issue, not to mention an eyesore.

Today between 5 and 8 pm there was at least one squad car sitting in the parking lot across the street from my house. During that time frame somewhere half a dozen and a dozen cars/ bikers/ kids on motorbikes sped past them one Winthrop Ave. The speeders were noticed by the cops who would hit the siren every time, but the cops did nothing. No one was followed, no one was stopped, they just sat there and kept hitting that siren every 10 or 20 mins. Not only are people driving dangerously, but this was really frustrating to observe! This lack of action gave the impression that those officers are lazy or unconcerned - either way that's unacceptable considering we pay their salaries with our taxes. As if this wasn't upsetting enough - the constant blaring of their siren ruined an otherwise beautiful spring evening. Did anyone else hear/ notice this?
  • Streetlight Out Archivado
50 Derby Ave. New Haven, CT - West River
The streetlight outside my home has been malfunctioning for months. It flickers off and on constantly. Since there is a lot of traffic (both from pedestrians and drivers), the light not working properly poses a safety concern. I hope UI will come out and fix it soon.
