The closed-for-repairs Chapel Street bridge over the Mill River was supposed to open today, according to a sign posted at the barricade. However, the bridge remains closed and the work on-going. In March the work was supposed to be done within a week or so. Any idea when the bridge will reopen?

32-50 Wooster Place New Haven Connecticut - Wooster Square
City of New Haven: You can do better than this. The peak time of the year for visitors to Wooster Square is when the cherry trees are blooming -- and they're now in full bloom with a park full of admirers of their beauty. Yet each garbage can is filled to overflowing and the overflow is being scattered and blown across the park. YOU CAN DO BETTER than this. Please coordinate more frequent pickups this time of year. You know what to do, so do it. It's your responsibility
  • 21 Court Street New Haven, Connecticut - Wooster Square
Again today a car sped down one-way Court Street the wrong way. Yesterday it was a red Prius. Today it was a gold Toyota Camry or something similar.
This street is heavily used by pedestrians and people throughout the Wooster Square area walking dogs as well as coming and going from downtown.
Driving the wrong way is reckless and selfish and dangerous. I'm contacting the police non-emergency number, but this is intended for the offensive drivers and their possible victims, so beware that these selfish fools are liable to run over you if you're walked down Court while looking down at your cellphone.
  • 90-120 River Street New Haven, Connecticut - Fair Haven
An extremely unattractive leather couch with repulsive hair-grease-stained headrests and cushions, all compressed by what appears to be the result of great heavy human bulk, has been carefully dumped, in user-mode position, on the sidewalk on River Street.
  • 14 Court Street New Haven, Connecticut - Wooster Square
A silver Toyota has again parked overnight on the no parking, one-lane, one-way Court Street. Granted, if you arrive late, you have to park on Greene or Wooster Place and walk, but the rest of Court residents manage to park without violating the law.
In the event that a large fire truck needs to get down Court Street, this vehicle would be an impediment, yet another reason for the NO STANDING sign that this Honda parks in front of. Police please ticket and tow.
  • 333 Orange Street New Haven, Connecticut - Town_Green
Here's an unnecessary problem with a reasonable solution.
When heading west on two-lane Grove from State Street, the intersection with Orange Street has Grove's left lane marked for a left turn or to go straight. The right lane "ends" with a right-turn only marking.
Yet, past Orange, Grove Street still has its two lanes, and the markings have the left lane heading into the right lane at that intersection.
If these markings were obeyed, the volume of traffic here, combined with the timing of the red-lights, would see nearly all cars heading west backed up in the left lane with the right lane free for whomever turned right (many fewer). Consequently, as many drivers do, those who want to head straight avoid the long line in the left lane and when the light turns green they gun it and go straight ahead of the rest.
This causes problems, increases the ire of left lane drivers, and has probably caused accidents.
Solution. Keep the left lane marked to turn left or go straight as it is currently. But now mark the right lane to turn right or go straight.
FIRST, of course, re-mark the intersection lane lines to "steer" each lane with a gentle swerve onto the next block of Grove. Those who want to turn left or right will be in their respective lanes and anybody going straight -- in either lane -- can simply follow the lines and go straight ahead.

Corner Of Wall And State New Haven Connecticut - Town_Green
Behind the triangular yellow building at the corner of Wall and State is a deep gully that's filling up with trash. Have been told that Pike International LLC owns the property. If Pike takes pride in the community where it does business, it should send somebody over to clean up this filthy eyesore in the middle of New Haven.
