The traffic builds on Memorial and Westcott and cut down Asbury to Washington at speeds exceeding the limit. I know this for a fact as I live on Asbury and cars travel very fast down my street. I have waved and asked them to slow down and their response is to speed up and run the stop sign at Asbury and Lacy. A couple of years back we tried to get speed humps but were turned down. The city put a counter on the road and stated there was not enough traffic to support the expense of speed humps. Since that time Black Walnut Restaurant was built at the corner of Asbury and Memorial as well as many townhouses. so this has increased our traffic dramatically. There is an apartment complex under construction two streets over with two other apartment complexes scheduled to be built with in the next two years just two blocks over that will add well over 400 additional cars traveling down our street.

Given all the additional property taxes the city is collecting we would appreciate a few speed humps down the 200 block of Asbury as well as a stop sign at the corner of Asbury and Venice. Asbury is such a narrow street, in just a matter of time someone is going to be hit and killed. I know our lives are worth more than the cost of a few speed humps and a stop sign.

Please help us with this issue. We have considered getting the media involved If that will help the situation. It's just ashame we have to put up with this dangerous situation while the city turns their head the other way.
