Road only repaved ONCE in 30 years. Pot holes all over, no side curbs causing water from road to run straight into basements of some neighbors, one neighbor needs wall repaired that snow plows ruined, others drive way apron ruined by plows. The list goes on and on and we're being taxed to death! The Mayor would rather spend $85,000 on a street light study rather than pave badly needed roads in area.

Once again Mayor promised a road paving. Once again money evaporated.

Elia said in an email:
"We did allocate some funds in 2012 Budget for roads, any additional money from state would have helped. We’ll pave some roads for sure , but engineer will have to prioritize the streets given the final amount available after Budget approval."
LOL....give me a break!

Ithanell Rd.....some facts:
1. It's 6/10th's of a mile long.
2. You can't go more than a 1/10th of a mile without finding a "patch".
3. We pay some of the highest taxes in Hopatcong some as high as $40,000/yr.
4. Last year a woman broke her ankle getting out of her car after stepping on a curb that needed repair. She should have sued the borough. But she didn't.
5. The road hasn't been paved for 30 years although every year the Mayor tells me "we're on the list".
What do we need? An accident? A fatality? Just lets us know Mr. Elia because although we pay you $125,000/year I have yet to see exactly what a Financial Administrator does for a town. We already know what you left Wayne, NJ with while you were their Financial Administrator.

You still live in that town, you were the financial administrator for that town when it lost over a MILLION dollars in taxpayers money and now they lost $35 M of their tax base since last year. We don't have a $35M tax base in Hopatcong. But we'll losing over $1M every year in uncollected taxes. What are you doing about that? We just don't want the same to happen to our borough while you're in charge.
