Please, if you clear this camp, do so respectfully and refer residents for services. Please do not throw out what few possessions these people have. I know there's lots of trash, and wish the encampments were kept cleaner as they are in other cities, however dignity is important.
Every time a resident who pays rent in this area makes a complaint, the City says they will do something, yet it grows larger. The City and Railroad claim they gave people seven days to leave, like three weeks ago. They are STILL there. They are still playing loud music all hour of the night, parking cars on the streets making it impossible for people to use the property they PAY for. They block driveways and spread trash everywhere, not just around their camp. Get them out. Honestly, screw their belongings, too. They’ve had plenty warning to leave and they aren’t complying. Our children can’t even go outside to play because of these people bringing drugs and filth to their neighborhood. Do something useful and get them out.
Wow, automatically rejected for a legal mortgage and tax paying resident of the area telling it like it is.
Let’s try again. Clean this camp up! Our kids can’t play outside because of the people who live in the camp doing drugs, spreading filth, and having sex outdoors. We pay rent and mortgages for property we can’t fully use. It’s gone on too long and I’m @#$%. Get it cleared out. The people there have had plenty warning. Bring in a dump truck and throw everything out and jail them for trespassing (because you claim they were told that would happen) or get them in a shelter.
We need to get this fixed. The City and Railroad claim they gave these people notice to leave and it still grows. Our children cannot play outside because it's too dangerous due to the drugs and filth caused by the homeless in the camp. It's ridiculous that it seems these people have more rights than the people who pay rent and mortgage to live in the area. Obviously, Vallejo does not care about it's residents.
My concern in reporting this issue is to remind those who have political power, to not look away, and pretend that these unfortunate folks do not exist. They DO! And in most cases can be helped out of their homelessness. But this situation has gone on long enough and those neighbors who live near this encampment do not deserve this biological hazard and collection of vermin. So the city says that it is the Railroads problem and it has been referred to them for clean up. Well, the sooner the better, because at this point this encampment is only getting larger.
I drove by today as I was returning from a hike. There are currently several large tents just completely surrounded by garbage. I saw a lady going in and out of the tent, so they are definitely inhabited. I thought the city gave these folks a week to move on, but we’ve been reporting this for a month. I live across the street and as much as I feel for these folks, it’s a tremendous hazard.
I’ll post this before the “bot” response from CSS/Code Enforcement about how poor and few resources the CNR R.R. have.
CNR Railroad is owned by Genesee & Wyoming Inc. with 1.6 Billion in revenues. It is an American short-line railroad holding company that owns or maintains interests in 120 railroads throughout five countries (the United States, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands and the United Kingdom)
I don’t think they are short of $$$.
Also the time frame for abatement was supposed to be around the end of the month....”hopefully”?!?
I think this situation has gone on long enough and we are just wasting our time, waiting for the Railroad to do anything. So why don't we call/email/write the politicians to do something. Here is the website that list their emails and phone numbers. Maybe they will do something, and if they don't, well the election is right around the corner.
Lets clean up this city!! Flood Mr Thompsons office with concerns..If he wants to be reelected, show us what you do, don;t just talk about it!! The same for the rest of our ELECTED officials!!!!
Thank you for reporting! Code Enforcement and the CSS officers of the Vallejo Police Department have been working with California Northern Railroad (CNR) management to clean up the encampments along the railroad tracks that CNR is responsible for. This process may take some time as CNR is limited on time and funding for the clean-ups. Please direct any questions you may have to their general manager, Jake Harrison at jdharrison@gwrr.com or 530-406-8897. SeeClickFix is one of the many tools available to the citizens of Vallejo to report non-emergency issues. We “close” an issue in SeeClickFix once we've acknowledged the complaint; however, this issue is not "Closed" per se; it will remain an "Open" case with us until it is corrected. Thank you for using SeeClickFix!
Hi Code Enforcement. Maybe you should check with Christina at CSS, as she has advised that the Railroad will be cleaning up the tracks starting from Sereno Dr. (near Kaiser) to Florida St.(near the Vallejo Little League ball field), starting on Wednesday (Feb. 28).
