This situation has still not been rectified! It would be terrible and shameful if more human lives were lost, almost a week after Superstorm Sandy, by this tree falling to the ground.

The crack is visibly widening where the broken trunk is still barely attached. It appears this tree will fall bottom(heavy)-first, deflect off the house and land in the street and sidewalk. It will most likely take the streetlamp with it.

311 and 911 have been notified several times, a 'work order' has been created by the Forestry Dept, but the residents can get no clear indication of when this urgent treacherous situation will be taken care of!?

Extremely Hazardous:
This street needs to be cordoned off.
The split tree is barely hanging on to the stump now and is pulling away, it will take the second half of the tree, which also now has a visibly elongating and widening split) down with it—there are motorists and pedestrians passing under this hazard.
There are also 4 or 5 loose, broken 10-15ft boughs on the roof of the house that could roll into the street at any time.

There has been no notification or status update to the residents or neighborhood.

The New York Parks Dept came out and took some photographs (!?) Monday Nov 5th.

It appears the split tree on the house shifted overnight during the Nor'easter wind gusts, but thankfully has not yet fallen. The neighbors and residents can only keep their fingers crossed that this hazardous situation does not end in any fatalities.
