Descripción

Many parents are parking in the No Parking Bike Lane along Paseo Ranchero adjacent of Rancho Del Rey Middle School to drop off/pick up their kids every morning/afternoon. This is causing lots of safety concerns, unnecessary backed up traffic, and car accidents. I have been a victim of a hit and run from a parent who was parked in this bike lane. This matter needs attention and rectified ASAP before someone is seriously injured. Thank you for your time and looking into this matter. Hoping for a resolution soon.

To add, the problem spills over into all traffic lanes. Parents park illegally in the bike lane then force their way into the left lane and either u-turn illegally in the center left-turn lane intended for traffic exiting the designated drop off area, or block both lanes while they force themselves into the left lane and completely block the flow of traffic. Many parents also completely disregarding red curbs and parking illegally. Someone is going to get hurt. Please enforce traffic violations in this area. This has been a problem for years.

05/08/2024 0700 hours, CVPD hosted a bike to school day. 60 students and 15 parents participated in the event.

Along with all the aforementioned issues, the traffic has gotten so much worse mostly due to the Sweetwater School District doubling the cost of riding the bus for kids. Parents don’t want to pay the new fee and would rather drive their kids. That’s the root cause of the increase in traffic…. To heck with the extra emissions all those extra cars create! Sweetwater has found a way to make money and the environmental impact is not an issue because as per usual money wins…. And we who live in the neighborhood can just put up and shut up…. I’ve lived in front of the middle school for 22 years and the past year and a half has been horrible!! Please fix this issue!!
