It’s a disturbing trend that we have to remind our government who employs and pays people to do these jobs. What a terrible and defeatist message it sends to residents and visitors alike. Somehow there’s money and time to sweep the streets ahead of a big Yale game but how can we accept this widespread dereliction of duties? As someone who served long ago in local government, I know things can get done and it wouldn’t take the citizenry to remind us too many times before we made some decisions as to continued employment of those who’ve decided to turn a blind eye to the appearance of our city. The photo above was taken yesterday- what kind of example is this?
Friends of Edgewood Park members pick up trash and litter along Chapel frequently , but no matter how often we go back, there is lots of litter. At some point citizens need to take responsibility and pick up after themselves.
And we are very appreciative and love everything that Friends of Edgewood Park does for the neighborhood. It’s the never ending issue of people thinking the world is a trash can and they can just throw trash out of their cars, walk down the street and drop trash on the ground with no care. I don’t think we will ever win this battle. But the city does need to keep the grass mowed. I think there is chance when we do what we can, people may have a little bit more care for their surroundings; that is the hope at least.
