Can the city explain then why, in the Portager, does it state leaves to be placed out by 7am on date of collection but not longer than 72 hours prior? The city inspected and noted today 8 piles of leaves that will now sit until 11/11; blowing not only on neighbors properties that abide that we are to do but also more work for those of us that abide..this must be a new way the city does not want to address with citizens not complying. The streets were never swept either after the 10/28 collection date. Taxes are high enough and now the city has chosen to not address this issue. If someone blows their leaves out in the street, they are notified so what aren’t those that put leaves out two weeks in advance as leaves blow all over the streets and into neighbors yards.

Neighbor consistently blowing his leaves in the middle of the road and we always blow them to his curb. This is the 8th time and it’s dangerous to my children who have scooters and motorcycles as well.
  • 7920 Shaver Rd Portage, MI, 49024, USA - Portage
Why is the traffic light at Shaver rd. and Centre st. so long? The north/south bound traffic light takes forever. It is at least 5 minutes long. With the constant road work and lane closures it forces everyone into one lane which makes it take even longer to get through once the light does change.

Tall grass at the corner house
  • 4601 Pittsford Ave Portage, MI 49002, USA - Portage
Beat up car parked and left in the street in front of this home. Not sure if it's inoperable but has been there a long time. Eye sore for the park entrance also.
  • 3623 Woodhams Ave Portage, Michigan, 49002 - Portage
This city easement has arborvitae planted. The City approved of the planting of this vegetation with the previous owners of the property (3611 Woodhams).
Matt Hybel (3623 Woodhams) took a chainsaw and chopped a large branch down.
When asked why he did it, he responded, "because I wanted to."
At no time did he talk to me or my husband (Anne & Dan Bitzer) about the branch. He just took it upon himself to chop it down. The arborvitae were planted by the previous owner, but the easement is city property.
We are on the third year of construction at 3623 Woodhams (Hybel). The blight along with the outhouse, where construction workers, the Hybels, and random people walking by poop and pee, has become a lot to endure.
Now the added situation of cutting down branches without discussing it with us and the fact that they are on city property has prompted this complaint. We hope to be able to stop the further cutting of the arborvitae located in the city easement between 3611 and 3623 Woodhams.
