It’s beeb a few months since I last rode up here but NEVER have I seen this beautiful park more desecrated with litter by the trash that comes up to apparently destroy the beauty for everyone else.
Shame on these people.
Please cities of New Haven and Hamden. Figure a way to catch and punish a few of these pigs to set an example for the rest.

This intersection desperately needs a left-turn arrow for traffic turning from Hamilton onto I-95 North. City of New Haven or Connecticut DOTD, monitor for a couple of days, especially at afternoon rush hour, and you'll understand.

Out-of-control hordes of unparented kids on bicycles recklessly riding and popping wheelies down the center of busy Chapel Street endangering their lives and contributing to the likelihood that an accident will occur. Police please arrest and lock up these kids in stocks on the New Haven Green.

The whole of the New Haven Green looks like this, except on all the other benches people are passed out or lounging among the filth. This is disgraceful misuse and monopolization of this public space.

Make garbage cans raccoon proof or better educate park users on disposal of food waste.

Here it begins again. A beautiful spring day. Trees unfolding in the season's new leaves. The New Haven Green covered with litter and filth.
The city, via the NHPD could at least issue citations to the slovenly litterers, who can't or won't pay their fines though could be forced, starting at 7 am, to pick up and to properly dispose of the unseemly filth that ruins The Green for all but those who drunkenly wallow in it.
What about it, Mayor and Alders?

Might the citizens of New Haven who let loose with massive globs of saliva in broad-daylight, in public places, please just occasionally swallow instead of building up such a mouthful that it necessitates forceful expectoration?

I went up one side if East Rock Park and down the other and found widely scattered and very few items littered. The park has not yet to be opened to automobile traffic.
In the parking lot that ends at the closed auto gate to East Rock, however, I quickly filled a grocery bag with litter and discarded filth -- despite the presence in the lot of at least three large trash bins.
As soon as the gate is opened to automobile traffic the entire park will again be a dumping ground for alcohol, tobacco, and fast food containers as well as entire bags of garbage, cheap discarded furniture, tires, and mattresses.
I implore the city to keep the fair closed to auto traffic and to provide a shuttle bus service every hour for those who want to enjoy the view. But let in New Haven and Hamden's trashiest citizens in their own vehicles and be prepared for further trash and filth and desecration.

New Haven Police Department, one or another resident's car is nearly always parked here right in front of the NO PARKING sign (even though the sign was installed backwards). Please swing through anytime and issue a ticket to these repeat offenders. Court Street is one-way for a reason: It is one narrow lane would not accommodate both parked cars and something the size of a New Have Fire Department fire truck. Thanks for your help.

Large unnecessary blue tag sprayed onto rock by somebody without commonsense.

A left-turn arrow is much needed for traffic turning left from Hamilton onto the I-91 on-ramp at rush hour, during lunch, and frequently on weekends. Vehicles attempting to turn at Hamilton's intersection with Ives get backed up for sometimes two cycles of the light because of heavy traffic going south on Hamilton headed for the I-95 on-ramp. This issue causes drivers to take dangerous risks to avoid sitting through yet another red light cycle -- when they will face yet a greater build-up of cars heading south.

New Haven annoyances:
Homely old men on extra-loud, unnecessarily loud, peace-disturbingly loud Harleys; skinny young men in tiny cars set low to the ground with dark windows and engine gimmicks that sound like race cars but barely have enough power to accelerate past grandmas in their Buicks; short men in ten-gallon, super elevated, jacked-up pickup trucks with the custom extra-loud exhaust: all freely displayed signs of impotence in its many and varied meanings.
Please seek counseling, quiet down and leave us in peace.

To save, preserve and honor the sacrifice it represents, the beauty it holds, and the mighty lessons it offers, we propose making the historic and magnificent East Rock Park off limits to non-City of New Haven / City of Hamden vehicles.
For older, infirm, weak, and disabled visitors we request regular shuttle buses ferrying between the lower parking lot and the summit.
When cars are allowed, the park, the land, these two cities, and the honor and sacrifice the Soldiers and Sailors monument represents are befouled with trash and filth left by the thoughtless lazy.
Please vote Fix to support this idea then call your alders, mayors and legislators to voice your support of untarnished history and beauty, as well as your rejection of the trash pile some would have East Rock and much of our two cities become.

Good job, NHPD. Today, typically, the light crossing my path on Elm turned yellow then full red and, as usual, 2-3 cars sped through the red. But today a NH police officer flipped on his lights and siren and chased the last of these selfish and dangerous lawbreakers and ticketed him. Being on my bicycle I stopped and watched in new-found satisfaction at summary justice. Hopefully the scofflaw in the Nissan's insurance premiums skyrocket. Thank you, officer. Keep it up, slow down the dangerously self important and give them a ticket.

There should be a SeeClickFix category for poor behavior or bad manners.
Anyway, this morning around 1:30-1:45 a small car pulled up in front of 10 Court Street with music (that, heavy of bass) blasting at Mardi Geas levels. People got out of the car and went into the house, loud obnoxiousness unabated as the driver backed out of Court and parked.
Driver and you neighbors who rode with the driver, your behavior is not acceptable, disturbs the peace, and slots you into the category of bad neighbors.
Please reassess your behavior.

Attention New Haven Traffic Enforcement
People parking all-day on Court Street. Not loading or unloading, apparently just finding it more convenient to park on the No Parking block of Court Street than to find a place on Academy or in a lot. Please issue warnings or, if you've already done so, issue tickets. There is no parking on this one-lane street for a reason. Thanks.
