NHV203

  • Corner Of Woodward And Pope Street New Haven, CT - East Shore
There is a wire down from a pole on the corner of Woodward and Pope. It's still attached to the pole but draping across the northbound side of Woodward.
  • Girard Ave/Townsend Ave New Haven, CT - East Shore
The fence of this foreclosed home is coming apart and caving in toward the sidewalk, right across the street from Nathan Hale School.
  • 52 Girard Ave New Haven, CT - East Shore
The property of this vacant home is seriously overgrown.
  • Dodge Avenue And Burr Street New Haven, CT - East Shore
Small red Toyota (maybe a Celica? Not a Prius) CT plate 131 ZBE passed several cars in both lanes at a very high rate of speed on the curve of Dodge at approximately 8:10 this morning. The car was headed toward the direction St. Bernadette School, where children were being dropped off for the start of the school day. NHPD non-emergency line was called, which rang for several minutes before I hung up.
  • Dodge Avenue/Hemingway Avenue East Haven, CT - East Haven
PLEASE demolish the charred remains of the home that burned here several months ago, killing one person. The building is an eyesore, a sad reminder of a fatality and a definite liability.
  • 120 Kneeland Rd New Haven, CT - East Shore
The streetlight here flickers and is out most of the time. It's a very dark section of road and the sidewalk there is very uneven, making it hazardous for pedestrians.
  • 59 Pope Street New Haven, CT - East Shore
There are a couple of large, broken tree limbs caught in the branches of a tree on the tree belt. The neighborhood has many children in it, and a gust of wind could bring them down while the kids play outside. This tree has many other dead limbs, not yet broken, and is need of a serious trimming.
  • 250 Dodge Avenue East Haven, CT - East Haven
Drivers are constantly running the stop sign on Dodge at the intersection of Dodge Ave and Robert Drive. In many cases, drivers don't even slow down. This is extremely dangerous, especially to drivers coming from Robert Drive. Please put in a flashing light and/or start heavily ticketing those who run through the stop sign before someone gets hurt or killed.
  • 73 Pope Street New Haven, CT - East Shore
There are broken limbs hanging from a tree on the tree belt between 73 Pope and the edge of Nathan Hale School's property. Lots of kids walk under this tree on their way to school or after being dropped off by parents. Some of the limbs are large and heavy, and they could easily fall and hit a child (or parent). This tree was an issue before Hurricane Irene, and I SCF'd it some time ago. Nothing was ever done. It's still an issue, perhaps moreso. Please take care of the limbs on this tree and others along the property of Nathan Hale School before someone gets hurt. Thanks.
  • 782-828 Townsend Ave New Haven, CT 06512, USA - East Shore
There is a dead deer on on the NW corner of Tuttle and Townsend. Looks like it was recently hit. :(
  • Burr Street/Dodge Avenue New Haven, CT - East Haven
The two new speedbumps need to be painted. Despite signage pointing to the bumps, they are barely visible until drivers are upon them. This is a danger to the drivers and their cars. It's great that this traffic-calming measure is in place, but PLEASE PAINT THE BUMPS. Thanks.
  • Townsend Avenue New Haven, CT - East Shore
There has been a dead skunk on Townsend near Hall Street for days, and now there is a dead opossum on Townsend near Pope St. A few weeks ago, a dead skunk was left on Townsend near Ft. Hale Road for more than a week. Please remove them. Not only is it depressing to see the roadkill, but it really smells in the heat. Thanks.
  • Pope Street New Haven, CT - East Shore
There are several dead tree limbs on the tree belt along the Nathan Hale School property on Pope Street. Many children and parents will be walking this stretch of sidewalk in a couple of weeks when school begins again. A heavy rain or wind will snap these branches down and can hurt someone. There are already several dead limbs that have fallen this summer, including one massive one at the end of the property. I've contacted my alderwoman, who put in a request to the city tree crew, but so far nothing has happened. The limb has been there since early July. Please trim these trees of all their dead limbs before someone is injured on their way to or from school. Thanks.
  • East Shore Park New Haven, CT - East Shore
There is an unused parking lot/section of East Shore Park behind the basketball courts that would be ideal for a skatepark. Edgewood shouldn't be the only go-to park in the city for kids who skateboard or ride BMX's. It's a perfect location for this, and the city should see if they can get someone to underwrite it. If Westville can have one, East Shore Park--which is used by thousands of people every day for baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, bike-riding, walking and running--should, too.
  • 150 206 Kneeland Rd New Haven, CT 06512, USA - East Shore
The sidewalk at the NE corner of Kneeland and Raynam is completely covered in sand and mud for a stretch of about 6 or so feet. Several inches of sand and mud are here, and when it gets wet, people slip and fall in the mud. The corner is covered with trees and poorly lit, so it can be tough to see how bad the mud is. But it's enough to make a jogger or dogwalker slip and possibly get injured. The sand seems to be runoff from the property next to it, which should probably have a retaining wall. It just seems to be getting worse every month. It's been like this for at least two years, if not longer. And you can often see the long dragging footmarks in the mud where people have slipped (and, in some cases, obviously fallen).
  • Pope Street New Haven, CT - East Shore
Cars BOLT down our one-way street between Townsend and Woodward. Yesterday there were several children outside playing on the sidewalk, and one parent flagged down a speeder in an effort to slow them--instead they sped up and drove aggressively. There are many small children on the street, as well as elementary school on the corner. Residents on the street are in favor of speedbumps to calm the speeding. Animals and children don't stand a chance agains the recklessness on this street.
