Thank you for reporting! This issue is known to several departments and involved agencies who work to solve issues such as this. The City has removed people from this building several times, in addition to boarding entrances and openings. The process for demolishing buildings on Mare Island is a long and costly process, including the requirement of anenvironmental impact study before work can begin. Due to air quality regulations, the Fire Department cannot burn these buildings to use for training purposes. We hope to work with others to provide a solution for this blight. Thank you for your understanding. For more information on abandoned buildings, please call Code Enforcement at 707-648-4469.
Hoping to make North Mare Island more attractive for potential developers, Vallejo has won a federal grant to help remove dilapidated buildings, city officials announced Thursday.
