I agree, these cross-walks are extremely dangerous as-is. Without markings cars often fly into the cross-walks while pedestrians have a walk signal, not realizing they're passing the stop line. I've also seen cars almost hit oncoming traffic on Somerville Ave because there is no center-line.

When are the crosswalks going to be restored? Can we get a timeframe?

Driving through in last night's rain at rush hour was harrowing.

Try biking through it, even scarier! Pretty nuts that it's allowed to just sit without any pavement markings for so long.

Thank you for reporting this issue to us. We are pleased to report back to you that this issue is now resolved. The crosswalks and stop lines have been painted. Crews worked last night until the temperatures were too low to continue. We will monitor the forecast to find another day above 40 in order to continue markings work in this area.

I would like to post the completed pix and description on portersquare.net. Could someone give me chapter and verse? I would like to know this is truly done, and the neighbors and users are happy.

The cross-walks are all painted, but as of today the bike and lane lines are not. I guess that does address the original reported issue, but it looks like some commenters were worried about the safety of biking through the Porter Square Mass Ave intersection. There certainly have been bicyclist deaths there in the past.

Please add some kind of temporary marking for the bike lane. This area is very dangerous as the bus stop and cars exiting Porter Square make things chaotic.

We are pleased to report back to you that this issue is now resolved. A majority of the markings have been installed. The remaining bike symbols and green conflict zones will be installed in the Spring. We tried today, but the material was too brittle in the cold and crumbled when we tried to lay it down. Today, on foot, I crossed Som. Ave. at the MBTA-CVS crosswalk and was mega-impressed by the beautiful, shining, reflective white crosswalks and line markings for all modes. The last complaint was 9 days ago. Is there still a problem? If so, please be specific. "Porter Sq." is too vague. Alternatively, read what SM said 2 hrs. ago: thermoplastic can't be applied in cold weather. (Not in wet weather either, I think.)
