The state police (resident troopers) put out the speed trailer for 6 days in May, but it only worked for 2. They promised to return to do speed enforcement, but haven't been seen since. The police are non-existent (at least on the South side of town. We only see them on the road when an accident occurs(as a result of speeding). Troopers: Conduct some speed enforcement and not just on Rt 190/Main Street. There are many in town that wish the JI would post a 'police blotter' for Somers, so that we can see just what the police department 'is actually doing' in town.
50 in a 35? You are being too kind. Let's try 65+. Contacting the police is, and has been a total waste of time. They are totally ineffective. It's a speedway and you take your life in your hands anytime you are doing yard work alongside your property or walking/exercising along the road. The speeders already know that there is no enforcement on the town's roads and so they freely 'put the pedal to the metal' on the town's back roads.
Somers has a police department? You could've fooled me, and everyone else in this area of Connecticut. I've read recently that there has been a rise in burglaries and robberies in Somers. Does anyone really wonder why?....
Unfortunately, I highly doubt that anyone from the town government subscribes to "SeeClickFix", so it is doubtful that this situation in Somers will ever be resolved. How can one alert the 'powers that be' to this situation from either the Somers Town Hall or the State Police. Sounds like there is cause for an investigation.

Ineffective and mis-managed = Somers Police/Resident State Troopers.
Attention: Troop C management: Perhaps someone needs to take a closer look at your resident troopers in Somers.

And with respect to traffic enforcement, the squeaky-wheel-gets-the-grease rule applies, so contact the police early and often:
Police: Resident state police troopers, 860-749-4955. Office located at 451 Main St.
Let me know how it goes... maybe I can help drawing attention to the matter.
