The information I have been given is that Old Town road must be closed one day per year , it not being a city street. The actual law on this problem must be made clear before we can go further. This request will be addressed to the Mayors office etc. You have to many arteries feeding this area to make it a simple solution case. We will follow through on this situation.

A few things. 1. I am fairly sure that this underpass was closed for a while a few weeks ago; I noticed that it had safety cones across it on the other side of the highway. 2. Closing this road essentially makes a dead end of a route that many people take to cross I95 to get from one part of Milford to another. If it's going to be closed, it should be marked _as_ a dead end at the intersection of Boston Post Road. This is not something that affects only mall-goers, and in fact it traps travelers by making the mall the only alternative, from which the outlets were unable to effectively avoid complete gridlock. This clogged the entire mall on a busy shopping day before a holiday --a lose-lose for anyone in Milford who went to get groceries at Whole Foods or Stop and Shop, or was working at a store that patrons could not get into or out of. Not economically sensible, except for burning lots of gas while people waited 45 minutes to escape parking lots all along the dead-end road as well as the clogged mall. If there is a dead-end off of the Boston Post Road, it should be marked as such. This caused a dangerous situation with literally thousands of cars trapped and one security guard at the end of a man-made cul-de-sac. If the road has to be closed, it should be marked as such at the main intersection.

Can anyone in the Milford government / traffic division comment on this in terms of whether they are considering what to do about this in future?
