Any solution that prevents RR and CA Accidents by preventing blocked RR Crossings I am for.

Alderman of that ward would have to bring issue to Common Council to amend City Charter - then DPW could place a sign.

I am against this. People should be allowed to make a left-hand turn.

Doesn't sound like a workable solution. Makes a big disruption to getting to the post office etc. from south of the tracks. Sure. There are alternate routes through smaller streets. Invites scofflaw left turns if implemented.

Foxhall is a wide street. A left turning car does not block clearing the tracks unless the following car is tailgating. As I recall, the rules are, don't tailgate and don't enter a RR crossing or intersection unless the way to exit it is clear. Both rules are even on NY driving tests. How about we all follow them?

That nightmarish intersection barely changed since the days of the horse and buggy! Seriously-- the surrounding roads, railroad crossings, and road-surface infrastructure have never been upgraded since the 1880's! And the roads around there still look like they're made of DIRT!

Oh, yes, in the 1990's, Conrail or CSX or whoever it was at the time, replaced the original strips (where the rails hit the asphalt) with newer-style rubber mats.

But what has been done to the rest of the area around the crossing?! More-efficient traffic signage? No. Drainage improvements? Nope. Better sidewalks? Are you kidding? Upgrades to the power poles and utilities? Not a chance.

NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Nothing is ever done outside the status quo here in Never-Neverland!

Everybody wants to live in their own little cocoon and never change anything or make it newer so it doesn't crumble under its own weight. That intersection is a PRIME example.

You are correct, there is inadequate signage at this intersection.

The problem is identified correctly but the proposed solution would create more problems than already exist there. For one, you have traffic coming onto Foxhall and out of Foxhall onto two different streets, and traffic coming from Cornell then would be blocked from going onto Foxhall. This is one of those situations where there is no substitute for good driving judgment.

Yes this is a very dangerous intersection and there should not be a left turn onto Cornell St. and we do need a sidewalk on the left side of Foxhall going north.
