i reported the same problem back in january about rats on eastern ave and the response i got was that i had a rock wall in my driveway and thats why i had rats on my property, a few months later a friend of mine on vining ct had rats in and around his house. i had to spend $900 to have terminix treat the inside and outside of my house and i think i should be reimbursed by the city, this problem all started when they were tearing up fowle st.
I would like to add that this problem began when RJ DEVEREAUX Corp began construction to update the gas lines on Munroe Street/North Warren Street and now on Pleasant Street. I am fully aware that construction companies shall develop and implement an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach as well as rodent control tasks as described in the Scope of Work. There are currently NO traps/bait stations ANYWHERE in the project area or bordering areas at least on Munroe Street and North Warren St.
Thank you for forwarding this to the BOA. I am looking forward to having this issue resolved.
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR BRINGING THIS PROBLEM TO OUR / MY ATTENTION ; WILL KEEP CLOSE WATCH FROM HERE ON IN . GOOD NEIGHBORLY WARNINGS .
I AM INJECTING A " JOKE " THAT IS NOT FUNNY .
NASA IS LOOKING TO EXPERIMENT FOR MARS ; RATS HAVE BEEN USED FOR ALL MANNER OF SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS ,; THEY SEEM TO BE " LIKE " HUMANS IN THEIR MAKE UP , AND ELECTION DAY IS ALMOST OVER .
I TAKE WOBURN VERY SERIOUSLY IN ALL MATTERS AFFECTING THE CITY , I AM SURE THE MAYOR AND THE DEPARTMENTS INVOLVED WILL FIND A SOLUTION . THERE IS AN AWFUL LOT OF TRASH BAGS OUT THERE . SO HERE'S HOPING EVERYONE WORKS TOGETHER . NO MATTER PARTY AFFILIATIONS .
Health Agent has been out to property at Munroe, has not heard from owners as of yet. It was also ordered that the owner of the vacant lot on N. Warren exterminate, which they did, the neighbor at 13 N. Warren was mailed a letter to clean up property and exterminate. Library park area has been exterminated twice, as well as the DPW yard and the police station area. The Health Agent and the City are doing what they can to insure that any issues with rodents are taken care of accordingly.
WELL DONE AND CONGRATS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED ; I WILL STAY OUT OF THOSE AREAS ,; I RATIFY ALL THE WORKERS WHO HAVE TO DO SUCH JOBS .
I WAS VERY FRIENDLY WITH THE EXTERMINATOR AT MCLEAN HOSPITAL IN BELMONT . AN AREA SO WIDE AND DISPERSED IN VARIETY OF ANIMALS .( NO TICKS BACK THEN . ) RACCOONS WERE PROLIFIC , AND DANGEROUS . WE CAUGHT ONE MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEE FEEDING THEM CHOCOLATE & OTHER FOOD PRODUCTS , NEAR A BUSY AREA .
THEY TOLD HIM TO STOP FEEDING ME ; SEAGULLS WERE ALL OVER THE INCINERATOR AREA FOR THE SAME REASON . THEY DID NOT NEED THE HELP OF EMPLOYEES . THANK YOU .
I live on Eastern Ave (right down the street from kanedj) and we have a RAT problem too.
I've been in this house since Oct '05 and have NEVER had any problems with rodents until the city started doing road and sewer work around the neighborhood
I live on chestnut st. When main st was dug up and redone thete were rsts on chestnut st. Now since the wooded area was cleared out between Kilby and Chestnut St the rats have returned tonchestnutbst. It is disgusting rats carry all kinds of diseases. Please do something . Thete have been dead ones in the st. In driveways and live ones getting into basements. Have lived on chestnut st for 25 years and thete has never been rsts.
I dont understand why the mayor wont do anything about the rat problem in Woburn I put in a complaint on this site a couple of times begining back in January.I even sent a complaint directly to the mayors office and was basicaly told it's not the city's problem but a homeowners problem. Reading the complaints on this site there seems to be a common denominator, mainly digging up the streets or some sort of construction in the area of the complaint, so I dont understand how that is the homeowners problem. Maybe anyone who has had a rat problem should srend their complaint directly to the mayors office, maybe if he sees enough complaints he will do something about it instead of brushing it off as a homeowners problem.
send the mayor some flowers and a box of chocolates ; then send him your regrets that he hasn't come forward , or backward into your problem .
Or a jar of honey will do the trick
He is a very busy person , so his attention span to any problem , should be sugar coated .
I hope we get rid of them , before the Bubonic Plague hits us .
