Illegal dumping is a more serious problem than graffiti in my opinion. I've lived in the neighborhood for three years and am dismayed by the amount of dumping in the Jack London District. People use our neighborhood as trash bin--particularly along the freeway. In the area reported above, the trash looks like it could be related to the big storage unit on 3rd Street. We often see furniture, old clothes and shoes, and a LOT of hazardous waste such as oil, paints and coatings.

It's a disgrace that graffiti in Oakland has gotten out of control under the Jean Quan administration. You have graffiti everywhere you look. The vandals run amok without any fear of consequences. The vandals are so embolden that they even tag the walls of the Oakland Museum when ever they feel like it. Anyone who drives the Nimitz through downtown and the Jack London District can see graffiti, garbage, and overgrown weeds on both sides of the freeway. One warehouse around Oak Street on the Jack London side of 880 has huge 20ft graffiti on its walls. It's a disgrace that people traveling through Oakland are exposed to such blight and filth. It's a complete disgrace to all law abiding civic minded tax payers that Oakland is viewed as the playground for all graffiti vandals to do as they please, How much longer do Oakland residents have to tolerate the constant blight?
