Traffic on Pond Path coming south traveling at high speed; Northbound traffic also speeding from Mark Tree Road. This "crash corner" needs to be regulated with a traffic signal before there is a serious injury or a death.

Vehicles move in BOTH directions at high rates of speed.
There are no sidewalks.
How about a stop sign north of this intersection to slow down speeders.

I know this might be a very unpopular suggestion, but "traffic circles" do a great job of calming traffic (to "horse and buggy" speeds) while keeping the traffic moving (with "Yield" signs and not "Stop" signs).
The idea here is not to force traffic to completely stop at a stop sign or a traffic signal (everyone hates waiting 45 seconds at a red light with no cross traffic). Installing a traffic circle would add sidewalks, and would make the high speed traffic on Pond Path slow to about 5-10 mph while drivers "self-regulate" their driving. Sort of like what happens during a power outage, drivers suddenly become more friendly and help each other navigate the dead traffic signals.
Something similar was installed in Huntington. If you go to Google Maps and type "Clinton Ave & Gerard St Huntington, NY 11743" you can view what they did. It is not a perfect solution, but the more I think about it, the more I think this is what we need. It would also add those sidewalks and allow the folks who live on Pond Path to pull out of their driveways without taking their lives in their hands.
Mull it over, I think this is what we need.
