Just for the record, CNUSD always provides a crossing guard for that exact intersection anytime kids are present so there is no safety issue with kids involved. Hopefully, adults can figure out how to cross a street safety.

Just for record…. I’ve been at that intersection with the crossing guard in the middle of the street holding up the stop sign as drivers have driven past her. And there is not a crossing guard present during after school hours activities like open house.

Also, the crosswalk lights should be installed by June of this year.

Logic tells me that if a driver is going to run through an intersection with a human standing in the middle holding a HUGE stop sign up... some crosswalk lights will provide absolutely zero additional benefits.

Maybe, maybe not. But it’s worth adding in case it does catch the attention of distracted drivers and possibly avoid someone getting hurt, don’t you think? How could it be a bad thing to add?

I live at Altia off of Parkview and have asked the City repeatedly for Traffic Engineering to fix the speed and traffic flow.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to the City of Corona Traffic Engineering Department with your concern. Traffic Engineering conducted a Stop Warrants in 9/28/23 which the volumes for that intersection did not meet the thresholds per the CAMUTCD for a stop sign to be installed. The study does indicate there is a peak in volumes during school drop-off and pick-up. However, the warrant requires that the minimum vehicular volumes are met over an 8-hour period. We strive to thoughtfully evaluate each request, but unfortunately, the intersection of Parkview Dr and Aztec Ln/Fennel Dr did not meet.

Updated fluorescent school and warning signs have been installed to alert drivers of a school zone.

In addition, Traffic Engineering is evaluating this location for Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons to increase driver awareness of pedestrians crossing. The lights are activated via push button used by the pedestrian as they begin to cross the roadway.
