The phasing, timing, and default features of this signal need to be reviewed and reset.

This intersection was monitored and the passage time was adjusted for St Albans. The intersection is operating correctly. The reason the signal returns to Dartmouth is because that is the main street movement. Once there is not a vehicle ON the detection loop of St.Albans or Camelot, the signal will cycle back to main street.

The heavier traffic volumes are along St. Albans. Also, most of the traffic coming down Dartmouth turns right onto St. Albans and can turn right on red.

This intersection was approved and sealed by NCDOT for Dartmouth to be considered the main corridor. One of the reasons are lot of the traffic comes off Six Forks Road and has to be cleared in order to prevent a back-up to a main street corridor (Six Forks Road). However, the times have been adjusted to allow more green time for St. Albans. If a vehicle stops at St. Albans and no traffic on Dartmouth, there should be very minimal wait. Staff shall continue to monitor and make nay necessary changes. Staff monitors these intersections by field technician,computers and the traffic camera at the locations.
