Large blocks of ice left at the end of each driveway on our street where retired and the elderly reside who have to somehow endure pain and suffering to remove the snow and ice build up which the grater so graciously left in our paths some unable to get out of their driveways to go to work and others returning home from a long day at work to try and find a spot to park before getting a shovel and physically removing mounds of snow and ice from their driveway entrances. This task will challenge a fit energetic person never mind the elderly or physically challenged person due to age or injury. How can the City of Grande Prairie expect tax payers to tolerate the lack of concern for residents. While we appreciate the ice and snow removal of the street itself, the fact that the ice and snow are left for us to disperse of seems cruel. We keep our sidewalks clear for passerby's and the postal service yet the City seems to completely ignore the challenges it places on residents. I can't help but wonder how many individuals had a sleepless night due to pain caused by shoveling mounds of ice and snow or had to visit the ER to get some relief. There must be a better way to handle this situation. Although the attached picture does not do justice to the amount of ice/snow left behind, I hope it gives a good idea of what tax payers had to deal with.
