Yes I completely agree with the above statement regarding the intersection at Griffin and McKinley. It is a dangerous intersection and it should be monitored by the Corona Police department. Also the intersections at Mount Humphries and McKinley, Rancho Vista and McKinley and Parkview and McKinley are equally as dangerous and drivers are running red lights. Drivers are running red lights countless times a day at those intersections and it’s very very dangerous for the rest of us. Please help!!

Yes. The drivers on McKinley, Promenade and Griffin do not obey the traffic lights! Please enforce the law.

Thank you for your quick reply. I am only able to go back 24 hours on PulsePoint, but I do recall there were 2 accidents in one day last week at Griffin and McKinley. If I had to give a more specific time, I would say rush hour am and pm. Most of the cars I have witnessed speeding/racing and running reds are the lowered cars with modified mufflers similar to the black car that lost control and crashed just south of the Mt Humphries/McKinley intersection on January 8th. My neighbor was also hit by a driver running a red at Mt Humphries/McKinley several months ago. It was a truck that hit and ran. I think red light cameras would be a good use of funds for the gauntlet from Mt Humphries to the 91.

There were cameras at McKinley and Griffin some years back. They were removed but I don;t know why. Probably because Corona did not get any of the remuneration it went to the owenr and operator of the camera's, I think. My husband and I have lived on Griffin for over 30 years and the traffic on the corner of McKinley/Griffin has gotten worse over the time we have lived here. People are running red lights and speeding. I see it quite often. I wait an extra two seconds before I start into the intersection and wouldn't you know it, I get honked at. People not only speed or run red lights, but are IMPATIENT. What is the hurry anyway??

Better Corona running "The Gauntlet" is what I call the area from my front door all along Griffin Way, McKinley St., Promenade Ave., Brittany Dr., Buchanan St., Wimbledon Dr., and Mt. Humphries St.
People are speeding and drive like maniacs! I've called the city and I've complained plenty on see click fix, and get the same response that the area will be monitored.
As Vanden Akker's said it's gotten worse, this area is truly awful. The city knows it and the city needs to send out the motors to seriously get crack'n. Not just for a few minutes once in a while as that's NOT working.

Regarding signal timing:
Right now traffic patterns are very different than they were pre-pandemic. There used to be defined AM, Mid-Day, and PM peak traffic that could be observed and the signal timing set to optimize for these flows. Currently, traffic patterns are shifting day to day, and a 1-3 day traffic study is inadequate to account for these variations. Traffic Engineering will update the signal timing when traffic patterns stabilize.

Regarding photo enforcement:
It is my understanding that the City employed red-light cameras in the past. They were eventually removed because of public perception\complaints and questionable effectiveness in reducing red-light running.

Thank you for your quick response. Although I am no expert, "waiting it out" for traffice patterns to stabilize could result in needless accidents. We are in year 3 of the pandemic, this is the new normal. If 1-3 days of observation isn't enough, then do two weeks. As far as red light cameras, I'm sure there was opposition. No one wants to get a ticket, but safety needs to be put first. What didn't work in the past, may be necessary now. Once again, thank you for taking the communitys' concerns seriously.

The people driving on Griffin to get to walmart is only part of the problem. People are just going to fast period on Griffin. People use it as a thru street instead of using promenade. They are passing in the middle lane which is supposed to be for turning. I can't even turn left into my driveway because I almost get hit head on as a car going in the opposite direction apparently was going to slow and the driver of the car behind went into the turning lane to pass them as I was getting ready to pull into my driveway. It was a good thing I was paying attention. Someone is going to get killed. The speed limit is 30 mph. It should be slower like on Wimbelton (25mph). I live in this neighborhood, so I observe the speed signs and stop signs which people don't like because I have had people pass me on the left flying. I'm surprised their car doesn't have wings. Anyway, sorry for ranting. I hope the traffic slows down.

Vanden Akker's you're not ranting and don't apologize for stating what goes on every single day all day in our neighborhood. I walk our neighborhood, talk with our neighbor's who all feel our neighborhood isn't safe to walk or drive in and we all wish we'd get more support from the city other than some lip service and the occasional motor officer sent out for a short time. And you are not alone in thinking the speed limit needs to be lowered to 25 mph. We want speed bumps in the road but Corona will NOT install bumps anywhere in the city.
There are some new laws in effect this year such as "Slow Streets" Assembly Bill 773 and "Speed Limits" Assembly Bill 43. You can search and find details about the new laws at leginfo.legisature.ca.gov
I hope more residents take the time to contact the city about the traffic crisis in our neighborhood BEFORE someone is injured or killed.
