This building is a real eyesore and danger to nearby homes. It needs to be demolished as soon as possible!

UPDATE SUNDAY JUNE 22 8:30 pm West side door is completely open, not covered by plywood or even a door propped up. Clearly the squatters are emboldened.

Thanks for reporting! Staff have been rescuring the building as much as possible. The Community Services Section of the Police Department has also made several trips to this location to remove trespassers. This building is marked for demolition. We are acutely aware of the hazards this building poses and will continue to do everything in our power to keep securing the building.

If the first floor boardup was done with 3/4" ply (painted prefered) and fastened to building framing with Head Lock brand 27/8" fasteners available from Lippencot supply sku#fmh2gm278500 or can be special ordered via foster lumber these screws have a propriatery
driver bit (hard to find) it would be extremly hard to break in the building and the board up pannels can be reused as can the screws as well . This would be a good standard for boardups in the future and should greatly reduce squatters reentering buildings
id demolition will take some time please spend $ on a quality boardup cameras are not keeping squatters out ...

We are pleased that the City plans to demolish the building. However, until there is ACTUAL security on this building (not just cameras) -- and a SPECIFIC and funded demo plan, it's premature to close this issue. Just last night there was a machete attack there. The building is still very much a problem!

Right you are Anne afterall the COV has owned it for 18 years this is not impressive property for a portfolio , I can not think of any City in the bay area that would allow this blight to go on for 18 years . The squatters are now comming going through a south west window following the boardup of the west door PLEASE do a proper boardup once and for all end the nightmare for the neighbourhood and public works

Thank you everyone for your invaluable input. We appreciate your observations and concerns. The Badge & Pass Office (Building 513) is a high priority for the City Council and City staff. We are in the process of completing a required environmental assessment prior to demolition. Concurrently, City staff is preparing the bid documents for demolition. Until the contract is awarded, Public Works Maintenance Division crews will continue to monitor and board up the building as needed. If/when you observe the boards being pulled down or people going into the building, please call the Police Department at 707-648-4321.

The issue will be closed on SeeClickFix. As our maintenance communication tool, we use SeeClickFix to report non-emergency maintenance issues. We have (and will continue to) secure the building and have scheduled long term action (building demolition project). Even though we have Closed this issue, we do not consider it complete – this forum simply does not function as a long-term issue reporting service. Every issue reported on SeeClickFix, if not able to be corrected immediately, is scheduled for additional action, and closed.

There was plenty of traffic in and out all weekend long they have several entrances on south west corner (away from camera) has the half of the silver corvete been removed from the west side parking area ? also some one is living in the small yellow/beige shack by the RR tracks .

Ben P - Staff was out at the location this morning with the Police Department to remove trespassers and resecure all entrances. We have reported the corvette to the Police Department, they will issue a citation and then have it removed. I am looking into any action that has been taken by the Community Services Section (CSS, Police Department) regarding the shack. If none has been taken, they will go out and try to make contact with the trespassers and have them move on. Thanks!

The last post was not from me , while I GIVE A BIG THUMBS UP TO THOSE THAT HAVE WORKED HARD to remeadiate this blighted structure , keep in mind that this afternoon , they were right back in the building ... Seems they have been there so long that , they have established residency ... A defacto Homestead ,, human nature being what it is ,,,, Repleate with rooms full of human waste and garbage .. This has become a public health problem as well as a major social / issue , where is County ? with this ... COV does not have a comprehensive program for this kind of problem as Solano County receives the many million dollars for this kind of social assistence , both for the Clients and those effected ... County administrates the millions of dollars via fed and state for social services ,, where do the neighbourhoods of Vallejo
weigh in , if at all .... Or are the six figure retirements precluding , funtional Governance ???? what is the County take per client/case

Sorry in a nutshell County is basicaly payed to deal with problems of this scale , just look at the budgets , the social services budget will knock yer socks off !!! COV should get , full service support from County for this major social problem ... Where has our County Supervisor been ??? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I remember when our County Supervisor , even took calls at thome in the evenings , and even called Her constituants for opinions on issues
the badge and pass office Building 513 is a major social services issue , this is of County scale !!! not a local issue ,because Vallejo is vested in the County to handle social whelfare issues , if not relinquish the state and federal funds collected on our behalf
and get out of the way !!!!
