The city does not have the money to fix sidewalks. Also property owners cannot be forced to fix those sidewalks either. It is good you are reporting the problem but a better solution would be for someone who is handicapped to use a vehicle to drive around the problem.

@a-dog not everyone who is mobility impaired can drive a car (the blind, the elderly, the very young come to mind). ADA is about equal access, so unless the city is going to provide meaningful, alternative transportation for the disabled, fixing sidewalk is more cost effective. All major cities in the US require that property owners maintain adjacent sidewalks. It is the same way in Houston; however, for reasons, Houston fails to enforce their own sidewalk protection ordinances.

@Bill A you are correct. I did a Texas Freedom of Information request on the number of notices the city sent out in the last ten years. Shockingly that number is zero. It goes a long way in explaining why we are one of the deadliest cities for pedestrians.
