Cops need to start setting up some sting ops on the crosswalks -- drivers routinely ignore them even when you get yourself clearly out in the xc walk.

Maybe we should install a crosswalk every feet or so so that every one may cross where they please.

Zbeat- just give up like everyone else in this city- I could keep posting pictures of the same thing on Elm Street (near High) where hundreds of Yalies do this EVERY DAY as well as all the double parked trucks that never get tickets. A crosswalk has been requested there for over 30 years and what do you see.

why don't people not be lazy, walk to the corner and cross when the walk light comes on? guess what, no cost to taxpayers and the infrastructure already exists.plus we don't need more crosswalks on chapel traffic is bad enough.

The reality is that many people who live in New Haven are uncooperative pedestrians. The way a mid-block crosswalk would work is if people actually use it and respect the traffic on the road by not crossing elsewhere. I also believe that it is frustrating to be a pedestrian in this city because the traffic lights and crosswalks are neither programmed to benefit people on foot or people behind the wheel. Instead the sequences of lights and crosswalks encourage gridlock within the city center. All in all though, I think this is a great idea.

We don't walk there because we don't want to that's why.
