Winter Storm Update - January 27, 2015

Earlier today, the storm finished dumping roughly 12" of snow and our crews have moved into clean-up operations. We have made considerable progress together as a city, but there is still work to be done. Please read below with updates from Mayor Harp:

In concurrence with the State and Governor Malloy, Mayor Harp lifted the citywide driving ban as of 2pm Tuesday. Roads are still extremely dangerous so limit travel and be careful.

New Haven Public Schools are closed for Wednesday. Please continue to check with the district by downloading their smart phone app here:

-As of 6am Wednesday, the parking ban is lifted for the DOWNTOWN bounded by MLK, Howe, Grove, and State Street in preparation for the city to get back to work.
-A citywide parking ban is in effect until Thursday at noon. There is NO parking on BOTH sides of posted snow routes. There is NO parking on the ODD side of residential streets.
-Those who parked in the Granite Square Garage, Temple Street Garage, and the Science Park Garage must remove their cars by 7:00 Wednesday morning or face regular Park New Haven rates at those facilities.
-Residents are reminded that neighborhood parking remains permissible on the even-numbered side of city streets except for posted snow routes. Please continue to USE YOUR DRIVEWAYS and help your neighbors and street by offering available off-street parking. Talk to your neighbors about clearing the odd side of the streets for DPW to continue pushing back the snow.
-If parking your vehicle in a city-owned lot, we are asking that all cars be removed from these parking options by Thursday morning to help us ensure that we can open schools.

All city departments, including all branches of the public library, will reopen for business as usual tomorrow. Trash pick-up will resume later this week on a two-day delayed schedule. Tuesday pickup will be Thursday.

The Fire Department will also be clearing snow from around fire hydrants over the next few days, but ask residents to assist with clearing snow from around the fire hydrant closest to their house to help complete the task more quickly.

CT Transit bus service is resuming its normal weekday service on Wednesday. There are some service interruptions and detours. Please check the website for detour information:
